Mike Dooley: "Thoughts Become Things!"

Book Review: Choose Them Wisely: Thoughts Become Things!
by Mike Dooley
copyright 2009; published by Simon & Schuster, Inc.

If you haven't read or listened to this book yet, you're in for a treat! (It's also available as an audiobook from Simon & Schuster Audio, copyright 2009, unbridged. I experienced the audio version.) The book is encouraging, inspiring, and soothing.

Dooley wrote the book from the point of view of the Universe as he understands it, and he speaks to the reader directly and casually. This style and use of a persona allowed him to add gentle humor and convincing but gentle nudges to the brief messages that make up the book.

I'm sure I would enjoy the print version, but the audiobook is great...it's read by the author in a very centered, soothing, and reassuring way. I like to listen to it before I go to sleep at night!

In his "Universe" persona, Dooley reminds us that we are all parts of something grander and larger than we can even imagine. The "Universe" reminds us of our full power and potential!

I'd like to add a bit of inspiration here for you writers and other creatives out there. When Dooley first started doing this type of writing many years ago, he felt very unsure of himself. Can you relate?? Most of us can! Now Dooley has at least 4 books out, he's an inspirational speaker, and he was one of the featured teachers in the movie "The Secret"!

And wait till you see his website at http://www.tut.com/. I think you will love it! There are lots of free, fun goodies there! As with the book, the site is great for Law of Attraction fans who are looking for practical understanding but who don't want and/or need the scientific details. (By the way, scientific support for the Law of Attraction is out there from other sources, for any of you who aren't fans of it...yet!)

Please share your opinions and experiences with the book and/or the site with my other readers and me!

Thanks,
Susan

A Coach's-Eye View of "The Opus" Movie

Attention, Law of Attraction Fans! Have you seen the film called, "The Opus: From Vision to Plan to Performance," by Douglas Vermeeren? It's designed to pick up where "The Secret" movie, by Rhonda Byrne, left off...with more detail about the inspired action steps that Dr. Joe Vitali talks about in "The Secret."

Although with fewer details about quantum physics than were in the "What the Bleep Do We Know!?" (by Mark Vicente, Betsy Chasse, and William Arntz), "The Opus" covers some of the same ideas in its own way. "The Opus" also uses a similar structure, with a story line weaving together the practical meaning of the advice and stories of the experts shown in the film.

The Experts: Here's a list of some of my favorite experts from "The Opus." (Most of these folks were also in "The Secret," but there are many in "The Opus" that were new to me, also.)
  • Jack Canfield
  • Dr. Joe Vitali
  • Morris Goodman
  • Dr. John Dimartini
  • Bob Doyle
  • Mark Victor Hansen

Where "The Opus" Shines: Some critics of "The Secret" said that it seemed to be directed to a self-centered and materialistic audience. I have to agree, but I looked past that because I think it's very important to get the message of the Law of Attraction (like attracts like in our lives) out there.

"The Opus," however, has avoided that pitfall. It focuses more on the altruistic side of manifestation, including intentionally reaching out to others and giving them the nudge they need to reach their own highest goals.

Creative Stewardship

Hi!

We have all been blessed with the wonderful gift of creativity. (Yes, even those of you who don't see yourselves as creative...yet!) We have been entrusted with a sacred stewardship of this precious gift. Here are a few ideas for nurturing and protecting it.

Roots and Wings

Your creative nature needs the security of a strong root system. This includes taking excellent care of the vehicle through which it emerges...you! Also, keep financial pressure off of it and you by arranging a dependable way to stay solvent while your creative dreams are developing. You may need to keep a full-time or part-time job and/or simplify in order to do this, depending on your situation. I know, it's a bummer, but you will be glad you did.

Learning and practicing your craft will help provide roots, too. So does patience.

Your creativity also needs wings! The wings can be developed and strengthened by the following, to name a few:
  • intuition
  • passion
  • enthusiasm
  • experimentation
  • joy
  • play
  • authenticity
  • spirituality

Trust Yourself

I love this quote from Dr. John Dimartini: "When the voice and the vision on the inside become more profound and more clear and loud than the opinions on the outside, you've mastered your life." Dr. Dimartini is one of the teachers from the DVD/book/audiobook The Secret (www.thesecret.tv).

Protect Your Ideas from Premature Criticism

Examine and adjust your self-talk and limiting beliefs about yourself and your work. Share your blossoming ideas only with those you can trust to give them the gentleness they need to thrive.

Review My Past Posts

Most of my past posts offer ideas that will also help you to best carry out the fulfilling responsibility of creative stewardship.

Share What You Know

As we support each other in this effort, we are taking the idea to creative stewardship to a higher level by supporting not just our own, but the creativity of our world community. So please share your ideas, comments, and questions here, and anywhere else that they will stimulate thought and elevate the positive effects of the creative process.

Thanks,

Susan
